25 children from years 4 and 5 travelled to Barnes Wallis today to take part in the Sports stars Rugby and Hockey tournament. The day started with the groups having a short training session, lead by some of the students from the academy.
It was a very cold day but despite this the children got stuck in, trying sports that they have not necessarily been doing very long. Well done to all who took part. Our rugby teams came 7th and 8th and our hockey teams came 4th and 6th.

Our very first lunchtime football match took place today- an exciting game with some amazing football skills being shown by all. The overall score was 0 - 0 and went to penalties. The winning team, scoring 2 penalties, was team 1. A huge well done to all those who took part and, after a long debate, the player of the teams went to Kamran and Charlie.
Our first JB sports netball tournament took place yesterday at Barnes Wallis Academy. With 5 schools competing for the top two places to attend the Sports partnership final next month.
The team is a newly formed team for 2016 with children from years 4, 5 and 6. Some of the team have never played against another team before and therefore gained some valuable experience from the morning. The whole team got stuck in and showed true grit and determination throughout the tournament. We came up against some very tough and tall competition. The overall scores for our school were:
Kirkby on Bain 0 - 2 Mareham Le-Fen
Martin 9 - 0 Mareham Le-Fen
Holy Trinity 2 - 1 Mareham Le-Fen
Tattershall primary 0 - 0 Mareham le-Fen
We came third overall within the tournament.
A big well done to all the players!!
Football tournament - Tattershall Primary School - 27/09/2016
Our first tournament of the school year and we were looking forward to the challenge ahead. A new football team with year 4's now joining the fun.
Taking part in the tournament - Kirkby on Bain Primary
Tattershall Primary School
Our school team - (Captain) Jack, Aidan, Edward, Josh, Jake, George and Harley.
Game 1 - Kirkby On Bain, was a tough match. Some fantastic saves were made by our goalie, Jack. The defence had a good start to the tournament and supporting Jack as best they could. The overall score 1-0 to our opposition.
Game 2 - Walcott, we were finding our feet and put together some strong attacking moves to secure a 4-0 win.
Game 3 - Holy Trinity, after our last game, we went out confident against a strong side. Unfortunately, we struggled to keep our team tight and made some errors allowing the opponents to sneak through defence. Lost 3-0.
Game 4 - Tattershall Primary, this was a tight game, with goalkeeper Jack swapping with George. Jack scored quickly from the kick off and things were looking good when Tattershall came back with an equalizing goal. Nearing the finishing whistle we encountered a goal mouth scramble, our defence tried hard but the ball crept over the line leaving the finishing score 2-1 to Tattershall primary.
The team played exceptionally well considering this was our first tournament, taking into account that some of our players haven't even played in a game before. A huge pat on the back to all involved.
The tournament was won by Kirkby on Bain Primary school, who have now progressed to the next tournament to be held in Sleaford.
